FAQ
1.Can you name similar Products?

Yes . There are plenty of Web sites monitoring services available (just run GOGGLE search like this)  as well as Testing tools that let you write software that tests your Web application (run this search)

2. Does JTestNetwork have any advantages over other products?

Yes,

  • Web sites monitoring tools do not really test - they just monitor that specific port is alive (for example, 80 for HTTP, 25 for SMTP, etc.). However, a reply from port 80 does not guarantee that application is OK (for example, application server is down but it's Web server is still  OK)
  • Web sites monitoring tools do not monitor Intranet applications. Meanwhile, many companies place their mission critical applications on the Intranet.
  • QA tools require very expensive custom development to test your Web application but do little to monitor it
  • By contracts, JTestNetwork monitors Internet/Intranet applications by testing major components of most Web applications: Web Server, Application Server, JDBC Connection (optional), Mail (Optional), etc.

3. Does easy/difficult is to deploy JTestNetwork comparing to other tools?

It is definitely more involved that signing up with Web site monitoring services: the system must be installed on each computer that you are planning to use as Test Agent. However, installation itself is very simple: in most cases just place entire JTestNetwork under your application server root directory. And it is much less involed than configuring NetSaint, for example, that requires to be compiled on your Operating System (Windows excluded)
